A Digital Signature Is Found Embedded in a Digital Certificate

In order to properly use a digital signature it must be embedded as part of a digital certificate. Simply typing in your signature or applying it from a template does not make the signature secure. This type of signature is actually considered an electronic signature. In order to be an actual digitally secure signature the signature must be applied using your digital certificate.

You Can Have Multiple Digital Certificates Including a Digital Signature

You can have multiple types of digital certificates on your computer which perform different purposes and functions. For example, you could have one certificate you use to authenticate your identify when connecting over your company’s VPN. You could have another certificate that is used anytime you want to attach you digital signature to important documents or files. There could be other certificates used for connecting over the internet, accessing your employee information, and so on. The application and use of each certificate does depend upon how it is used.
