[1] There are two categories of server that use SSL Certificates [2] and once your server(s) category is confirmed, then the requirements for implementing AACD™ are minimal. The two categories of server(s) are those that have:
Single-Server with direct/indirect internet connection
Multi-Server with direct/indirect internet connection
And
Single-Server with no direct/indirect internet connection
Multi-Server with no direct/indirect internet connection [3]
Planning for AACD™, where the serve has direct, or indirect internet connection, can be as simple as downloading and installing the DSSA™ [4] software. You should also note that for each version of web server software you use (IIS®, Apache, etc), you need at least one corresponding version of the DSSA™. If this is the extent of your planning, then instead of renewing the server’s existing SSL(s), you simply install the DSSA™ instead.
On the assumption that all the SSL servers on the network can connect to the internet, you may have a Network Operations Centre [NOC] or Security Operations Centre [SOC] in which case they will probably install the DSSA™ software as part of the weekly or monthly maintenance program.
Just like the implementation of AACD™ this planning is simple and the only requirement is to remember that for each version of web server software, a single corresponding version of the DSSA™ is required.
A single DSSA™ can be configured for installation on multiple servers, on multiple networks and in multiple geographic locations within the same organization.
It is rare that a single server will not have direct or indirect internet connection. If however this occurs and you have a single server with no internet connection, the only way that AACD™ can work is if you install the CSG™ [5] appliance. On the basis that this would result in a CSG™ being installed to manage a single server, you should only consider the AACD™ system in very specific and ‘special cases’ because the implementation costs would be prohibitive.
